Breakfast of Champions

This morning I woke up early and decided that today was the day for a decent Breakfast*. I went to my messy kitchen and took stock of what was needed.
Cereal, milk, grapefruit, coffee, toast, eggs..... good.
The perfect breakfast doesn't happen all at once. It occurs in slow, lazy stages that appear in a logical progression that are neither rushed nor delayed. There can be no hastiness at all as the senses are still waking up and easily jarred. At the same time you have to move fast enough so that a grumbling stomach doesn't set the pace.
As I write this I am at about stage 3: sipping my strong black coffee and picking lazily at a grapefruit. The sun is poking over the building-tops, across the city and through my window, blinding me in warm radiance. iTunes, sensing my mood randomly jumps to Oliver Schroer's Camino album and everything suddenly locks into place. Eggs are on the breakfast horizon but for the moment they are too far away to contemplate.
A good day starts thus.
* Note the capital 'B'. It is neither careless nor inceidental
