Stress Relief
It's been a tough week. Extra hours at work mean more work and less play.
So how do I blow off steam? With the amazing power of STEAM of course... or rather by designing steam-punk-y industrial settings for my little robot to run around in.
An example: Friday night I got home feeling a little stressed out so I Immediately sat down and drew a bunch of gears.

I know it's nerdy and I know it fills a certain stereotype but immediately I felt the tension easing out of my shoulders.
Here are some more weekend experiments. Once again it's entirely sketchup although this time I cropped and blurred them a bit in Gimp. I want to get away from that because I think Sketchup is capable of doing everything I need it to.
A dreary alcove staircase:

Some more dreary housing. I used pictures from some back-alleys in Yorkshire, UK as inspiration. I imagine the little robot needing to walk home through this alley every day.

Last but not least here we have a Zeppellin factory. Yes I'm obsessed with Zeppellins. Thank you for noticing.

I'm toying with using Sketchup to do some basic compositing so that I don't have to have all this detail in the frame for every render.... maybe next week.

The third picture makes me think of the Smiths. :)
