Breakfast of Champions

in

This morning I woke up early and decided that today was the day for a decent Breakfast*. I went to my messy kitchen and took stock of what was needed.

Cereal, milk, grapefruit, coffee, toast, eggs..... good.

Success!

Ok, last Sketchup post for a while, I promise. I did manage to get basic compositing working in Sketchup though so this will let me do huge amounts of detail at low cost.

Stress Relief

It's been a tough week. Extra hours at work mean more work and less play.

So how do I blow off steam? With the amazing power of STEAM of course... or rather by designing steam-punk-y industrial settings for my little robot to run around in.

An example: Friday night I got home feeling a little stressed out so I Immediately sat down and drew a bunch of gears.

I know it's nerdy and I know it fills a certain stereotype but immediately I felt the tension easing out of my shoulders.

S.L.R. (Sad Little Robot)

I decided I needed the weekend to be creative. A little "me" time never hurt anybody.

Here's a doodle of a little robot that just can't get a break in life.

I'd love to expand this into a graphic story when I have some time.... soooooooo before the turn of the next century. In case anyone is curious this is purely sketchup and took about 4 hours total to get all the detail.

Oh, and just for fun here's a sketch of S.L.R.'s basement home where his owners keep him locked up at night.

Culinary Resurgence!

in
I've been cooking again. I always tell people that I don't hate cooking, I just hate cooking for myself. Well in the last few weeks I've been dusting off the old epicurean skills to provide myself with something palatable

Here's a Chickpea curry with Chapatis on the far burner

And here we have Palak Paneer with tofu because I was too lazy to go around and try to find some Paneer. I'll have to try this one again. Even though it tasted quite acceptable it wasn't the right colour.

Unfair Practices (a rant worth $0.30)

in

I received two text messages from Telus today:

  • The first one said that, starting in August, I would be paying $0.15 just for the honour of reading useless messages (like this one).
  • The second message was to remind me that if I subscribe to their text message plan (something I don't need because I write 3 text messages a month) I won't need to pay the $0.30 that Telus had now cost me in useless incoming text messages to anounce their intent to gouge me.

Finally, a blog post

in

I was sitting at work today, on a friday, contemplating my life. Around me there was a festive, care-free air and people were laughing easily and talking about their weekend-to-be or their hobbies or sports or whatever. So I took a deep breath, leaned way back in my chair and put my feet up for a moment, drinking in the mood from all directions. I'd just come back from lunch with friends in the sun on the library patio followed by the best Mocha coffee I've had in a long time. Already I was looking forward to a movie tonight, again with friends.

Just a few minutes....

2007. Quite a year. Lots happened. Lots didn't happen. Some wins, some losses.

Happy new year ye faithful denizens of New Internetia.
